Amsterdam- Not Just For The Promiscuous

Many peoples first thoughts of Amsterdam would probably be the seedy Red Light district where sex is for sale and promiscuity is very apparent. Then there are the coffee shops not a misleading name they do serve coffee where you are free to enjoy marijuana in any form you like. It is fair to say that the Red Light district and coffee shops are integral features of the Amsterdam culture but there is far more to the city than meets the eye. The general consensus of people who have visited Amsterdam is that it is a ridiculously pretty and cultural city.

Amsterdam boasts more than 37 museums and even has an area dominated by them called Museum Square. There you can visit the three main museums Amsterdam has to offer; Rijksmuseum Stedelijk museum and the famous Van Gogh museum. The Van Gogh museum holds the worlds largest collection of Van Gogh paintings a must see for those who love art. Other attractions include Anne Franks House the actual location where Anne Frank and her Jewish family hid from the Nazis during their occupation of Holland during the Second World War. Anne Franks Diary has inspired millions of people which is why this attraction is so popular.

Another major attraction in Amsterdam is maybe not so cultural but if definitely fun. The Heineken Brewery offers a tour of where Hollands famous beer was originally brewed which offers a tour and several rides as well as a few glasses of Heineken! The Heineken experience must not be missed by beer lovers. Beer is best accompanied by food so what better is there to do than browse the hundreds of restaurants Amsterdam has to offer. The seemingly most popular type of restaurant is Argentinean steak houses where you are likely to find exceptional quality of food and service. Exceptional service is not just limited to restaurants; hotels shops and tourist attractions all have attentive staff that will be willing to make your experience an unforgettable one.

Amsterdam is truly a city which you must visit.
